Understanding overtime pay

In many jurisdictions, non-exempt employees must receive overtime pay for hours worked beyond the standard workweek. In the United States, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires at least 1.5× the regular rate for hours over 40 per week. Some employers or states use 2× for double time. Our overtime calculator lets you enter your hourly rate, regular hours, overtime hours and multiplier to see your total gross pay.

Use this tool to verify your paycheck, estimate pay before accepting extra shifts, or plan your budget when overtime is common. The result is gross pay; taxes and deductions are not included. Overtime rules vary by country and sometimes by industry—check your local regulations.
