SAT Score Calculator
Calculate your total SAT score from Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Math section scores. Each section ranges from 200 to 800; total range is 400–1600.
How SAT scoring works
The SAT has two main sections, each scored from 200 to 800. Your total score is simply the sum of the two:
Total = EBRW + Math
There are no subscores in the total. The College Board converts raw answers to scaled section scores; this calculator adds your known section scores to get the total.
Understanding your SAT score
The SAT is used by many colleges and universities as part of admissions. The total score (400–1600) is the main number reported, but schools often look at section scores too. A balanced profile (similar EBRW and Math) can be as strong as a high total with one weak section. Use this calculator to add your section scores and see your total, or to work backward: if you know your target total, you can see how different EBRW and Math combinations add up.
The SAT has evolved over time. The current format includes the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section (combining reading and writing) and the Math section. The optional Essay was discontinued. Scoring is consistent: each section 200–800, total 400–1600. Percentiles vary by year; a 1200 might be around the 75th percentile, while 1400+ is often above 90th. Check the College Board for current percentile tables.
If you have practice test results or unofficial scores, enter your EBRW and Math section scores here to get your total. This tool does not convert raw scores (number correct) to scaled scores; that conversion depends on the specific test form and is done by the College Board. Use this calculator when you already have your section scores and want the total, or when planning target scores for each section.
